Training Grants

Training Grants are available through:

  1. North Shore Career Centers in Lynn, Salem, and Gloucester (ITA grants)
  2. Mass Rehab offices in Salem and Malden ( must be a MRC client and meet their eligibility requirements and waiting period)

Process for applying for Career Center Individual Training Account (ITA) Grants

  1. If you are collecting unemployment or meet the low-income requirements (if you are receiving any benefits such as food stamps, rental assistance, fuel assistance, etc., you are considered low-income without requiring further paperwork), then you might be eligible for an ITA grant
  2. If you think you might be eligible, call your career center and make an appointment to attend a Training Options Workshop. You must be pre-registered to attend.
  3. After completing the workshop, make an appointment to visit with a case manager. The case manager will review your history and provide you with the steps to apply for a grant.
  4. When meeting with the case manager be prepared to discuss what type of job you are applying for and why you believe you need computer skills to qualify.  It is best, although not required, that you bring the following items to your appointment:
    • Resume
    • Three job ads you have found in the paper or Internet for the job you are seeking. These ads must show that computer skills are a requirement.
    • If available, bring proof of college level work (e.g. diploma, transcript, etc.)
  5. When meeting with a case manager it is best to arrive promptly, dressed appropriately for an interview and able to articulate your career goals.
  6. If you have not had college level courses, you will be required to take a TABE test in reading and math.

Salem CyberSpace staff work closely with the Career Center case managers and will be happy to assist you in any way that we can.
